Anti-Heroes: An Ethics-focused Method for Responsible Designer Intentions
Chivukula, S. S., Mehta, S., Gray, C. M., & Gairola, R. (2024, June). Anti-Heroes: A Role-Based Method to Encourage Ethical Deliberation. In Proceedings of Designing Interaction Systems Conference (DIS’25), Madeira. ACM Press.
Co-authored with a team of senior UX researchers, my first-authored publication presents the 'Anti-Hero' method, an ethics-centered approach encouraging designers to critically examine intentions and impacts. Published on arXiv, the paper emphasizes transparent decision-making to foster value-driven, user-centered design. Through this project, I honed skills in deducing insights from extensive user testing, leveraging tools like Dovetail and Airtable to uncover actionable findings that shape responsible design practices.

Devising a Quantification Framework for User Perception
As a solo research thesis, this study devises a method framework to quantify 'novelty' in user perception within spaces enhanced by production technology. Through analytical qualitative research, I identified key factors, parameters, and their relationships, developed from user perception. By examining recurring patterns, I formulated a framework for applying 'novelty' metrics to spaces. Skills utilized included design research, spatial analysis, and synthesizing a research framework, alongside user interviews, data visualization, and collaborative problem-solving to create a complex network model capturing novelty as experienced by users

As the project lead, I directed the entire process here—from conducting detailed user interviews to collaborating across six different agencies. Embracing an Agile approach, I structured the project into iterative phases.
My approach centered on understanding the clients' daily routines and behavioral patterns through qualitative research, allowing us to craft a space that truly reflected their lifestyle. This in-depth process informed every design choice from conception to execution.
Product, Budgeting and Execution led for a 12,000 sq ft high budget project
I led the product experience, budgeting, and execution for a 12,000 sqft project that integrated architecture, interiors, product design, and landscaping. This role honed my skills in technical detailing, especially in designing intricate product pieces, essential to creating a cohesive and immersive environment
